Happy National Book Month to authors and readers alike!
If anyone ever wants to truly get to know me, all they need to do is ask me about what I like to read, and I’ll pull out a 20-slide PowerPoint presentation.
This year, I made a goal to read 30 books, which is not a lot for some readers, but considering the total number of books I read last year was 10, I feel like this was a big jump for me. I used to read a series a week (as long as the library had the books ready for me) when I was growing up and even going into college.
Getting a full-time job and still trying to keep a social life made it hard for me to read like I did. If it wasn’t for the fact that I do need to talk to people, or I would go insane, I would have done more reading and less socializing.
Now that I’m running my own business and raising a family, I’m home more and can carve out more time to read. There’s so many exciting books to read and I can’t wait to get through them all!
Some notable books that consumed my life for a moment in time.
Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V. E. Schwab
Most (if not all) Sara J. Maas books
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan
Long Masquerade by Madeleine Brent
Thank you to all the authors and future authors for making me decide between going out with friends and staying cozy in my house with a good book.
