February Wrap Up

This month went by quickly and I’m happy about it! The flu ran through my family, making for a miserable couple of weeks.

Everyone is healthy now, the days are getting longer, and the weather is getting nicer! Pool days and cookouts are around the corner, plus I can read and write outside!

(Can you tell I’m excited?)

This month I was on a romance kick when it came to books. I’m almost a third of the way through my reading goal this year, which I’m very happy about!

With proofreading this month, I have been thinking about some easy tips for working on projects.

Here are a few that I use:

  • Give yourself a break between writing and proofreading
    • You want to give yourself time for what you have written to get out of your head so you can read your document with fresh eyes. You’ll find more mistakes this way.
  • Only look for one error at a time
    • Make a list of what mistakes you want to find and look for each one at a time.

E.g.

  • Punctuation
  • Spelling
  • Capitalization
  • AI Checkers like Grammarly
    • Using grammar checkers and other AI tools is fine, but can take the author’s voice out. Reading through the document with all the suggestions can help find mistakes that were missed.
  • Print off the document
    • Printing off a document and marking it with a pen can help you find mistakes. (Plus, it’s fun!)

Happy editing
