April showers bring May flowers.
That’s how the saying goes right?
I feel like my brain has been in a bit of a fog this last month. Some of the fog I gave myself, some is just from the season of life I’m in.
But I want to focus on the good that I am starting to feel as this fog is lifting.
I’m working on a new story and in the attempts to let the creative thoughts flow I’ve been taking it very slow. Been really trying to dive into what kind of story am I wanting to write.
- What characters am I putting in there
- What’s my setting
- Magic system
- How does the weather work
- How do the countries work
- What is the problem that I want solved
- What are the characters problems that go unsolved
I’m proud of myself for just thinking about some of these questions.
I’m a big fan of Scrivener (not sponsored). I just like the layout and its been pretty easy to use. They have a lot of prebuilt templates (like a novel template) that have character sheets ready for you to fill out. I’ve also decided to use their other app Scapple for story boarding.
Now I know there are a lot of other apps out there that can do the same thing and are cheaper or free, but I like these. I had it recommended to me and I feel like that holds more weight than being free.
This month I’m hoping to get back into some editing but I’m not holding my breath. I also get to hear how my short story did so I’m very excited for that!
All in all, the rain is rolling away and I’m hoping it reveals the flowers I’ve been wanting to see.
