With that May is done!

This month was full of growth in more ways than one!

I finally got my results back from my writing challenge and I did not win but I got excellent feedback on my story! After reading the winning story I understood the big reason why I didn’t win. I put too much story in too little words. I’ve never really looked into what makes a short story, I just went with it, but my story was like fitting a whole novel in two thousand words. Because of that there were details that I couldn’t get into like how the magic worked for my characters or getting more into the drama that I was trying to build for them. One of the reviewers did say though that if I made the story into a proper novel that they felt it would do very well. Guess what book I’m working on next!

I’ve been trying to up my social media presence and grow my accounts. Its hard to be authentic but also going “I really need you people to become my clients thanks”. Not that that is the only way to get clients but it does look good for potential clients to see that I am a real person. I’m just a person who feels they have no personality when they have to prove that they do. Questions like, “How would you describe yourself as a person?” makes me want to find that “I’m not a robot” checkbox because all answers fly out of my head. I’m just a girl who loves her family and books but does that actually say who I am?

So all in all I’m taking the social media one day at a time.

I haven’t talked about it too much but I am working for a start up publishing press and they are working on publishing their own anthology book. There are lots of things I don’t know about starting up a press and getting a project like this together. From the peak that I have gotten it is quite a bit. Last piece of news I have is….

My family is growing! By the end of the year we’ll be a family of 4 and I’m very excited about it! Hoping to get a few things(like getting ready to publish my own books) before baby #2 comes but we will see! (Look at me trying to be authentic!)
