August came and went like a bang and I’m honestly ok with it.
This month was rough for me, both personally and professionally.
I know lots of people warn that being a small business owner is hard but depending on the industry I think it is hard in different ways. The thing I have been struggling with since starting officially has been trying to market myself. I haven’t found the balance of talk about business but also don’t bog people down with just what I’m selling and make sure people know who I am.
So in the interest of my sanity and the new step of life that will be coming in November, I’ve decided to try and do a media overhaul. I had decided in the beginning that I needed to keep my book accounts and proofing accounts separate but trying to even post in one account has been kicking my butt. So I’m going to remove all my proofing accounts and blend them into my book accounts. That also means here I will be talking a lot more about my own author journey (more than I already have been). I also will probably talk more about the books I’m reading because that is also a passion of mine and maybe that will catch other’s eyes.
I’m actually excited to feel like that I’m doing something and hope that this helps levate some pressure from my mind.
Now in the proofing world I’m working on a project that I’ve been waiting a long time to do and I’m happy to say its going well! Its a collection of short stories and they have all been fascinating so far. Finally having this project has actually been the confidence boost I need to know that I can do this business and I believe I can do it well.
Now to just get everything situated…
Until next month!
